Vichy with the family: ideas for days out with children
Published 28 October 2026
Vichy is an easy town with children: flat, green, and almost everything can be done on foot or by bike. Here are our ideas, from the closest to the furthest away.
In town, without a car
- The Célestins beach, in the Parc Kennedy: paddling pool, water games and supervised swimming in summer.
- The play areas in the Kennedy and Napoléon III parks, in the shade of the tall trees.
- Crossing the Allier on the free summer shuttle, La Mouette or Le Mirage: children love it, and pushchairs can come on board.
- The circuit of the lake by bike or pedal cart, 6 completely flat km, with a mini golf along the way.
- The light show on the façade of the Opera, Thursday to Sunday evenings, and the 71 jets of the fountain in the Parc des Sources.
For older children
- Canoeing, kayaking or rafting with Vichy Aventure.
- Paddleboarding with the Club nautique de Vichy.
- Disc golf at the Parc omnisports, an 18-basket course.
A short drive away
- Paléopolis, near Gannat, to travel back in time to extinct animals. Read our article Paléopolis.
- The Vélorail de la Sioule (rail bikes), at Le Mayet-d'École. Read our article Vélorail de la Sioule.
- A canoe trip down the Sioule. Read A canoe outing on the Sioule.
Accommodation suited to families
With children, space matters. Our houses around Vichy, in Cusset, Bellerive or Creuzier-le-Neuf, sleep 4 to 8 people. In town, La Grande Maison sleeps up to 10 people and the Résidence Germot up to 18. Use the « 5 guests or more » filter on each page.
