Getting to Vichy by train and getting around without a car
Published 28 October 2026
Vichy is easy to reach by train, and once you are there, a car becomes unnecessary. The centre, the Thermes, the parks and the lake are all within walking distance.
By train
- From Paris: direct Intercités trains every day from Paris Bercy station, in around 3 hours.
- From Lyon: direct TER trains every day, in around 1 hr 30.
- From the region: TER connections with Clermont-Ferrand, Moulins, Roanne and Le Puy-en-Velay.
Vichy station is right in the centre. Our apartments in the Cœur de ville (town centre) are a few minutes' walk away, like the Résidences Épinat, a stone's throw from the station.
By plane
The nearest airport is Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne, around 35 minutes away by car, with direct flights from Paris and Lyon. Lyon Saint-Exupéry is around 2 hours away.
Getting around
- On foot: from the station to the Parc des Sources, allow a quarter of an hour.
- By bus: the Mobivie network serves Vichy, Cusset, Bellerive-sur-Allier, Abrest, Creuzier-le-Vieux and Hauterive.
- By bike: a signposted cycle path crosses the town from east to west, from the Bellerive bridge to Cusset. Vichy is also on the Via Allier.
- By boat: in summer, the free La Mouette and Le Mirage shuttles link the two banks of the Allier.
Coming by car after all?
Vichy is around 3 hrs 30 from Paris via the A71, and 2 hours from Lyon via the A89. Several of our properties have a parking space: notably the Résidences Épinat and the Résidence Célestins. Look for the « Parking » badge on the listings.
