IRONMAN Vichy: the ultimate summer sporting event

Every summer, Vichy welcomes triathletes from all over the world for the IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN Vichy.

Every summer, towards the end of August, Vichy welcomes nearly 4,000 triathletes from all four corners of the globe over one weekend for the IRONMAN 70.3 and IRONMAN VICHY. This double event, one of the most prestigious in Europe, brings the whole town together for a few days.

The triathletes start in the Lac d'Allier in Vichy, then continue by bike into the Montagne Bourbonnaise before battling it out on the run around and through Vichy, the Queen of Spa Towns. The IRONMAN 70.3 comprises a 1.9 km swim, 90 km on the bike and a 21 km run. The flagship IRONMAN Vichy race covers a 3.8 km swim, 180 km on the bike and a 42 km run.

During this period, the town sees huge crowds and extreme demand for Airbnb-style holiday rentals. We strongly recommend planning your trip in advance, as bookings are often made almost 10 months ahead, as soon as the dates of the next IRONMAN are announced.
